Patient B:

Patient B, a recent bilateral above knee amputee, learns to walk wearing preparatory prostheses called “stubbies”. These types of prosthesis do not have a knee component and are designed to help the patient learn to walk wearing two prosthetic legs. He will eventually receive more advanced prosthetic legs that do have a mechanical knee and will raise him up to his original height prior to the amputation surgeries.
